At the Fetal and Neonatal Institute at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, we understand that families don’t always plan for perinatal care. We aim to make your experience with us as smooth and comfortable as possible.
Whether you need interpretation services, financial aid or assistance finding a parent support group, our experts can help. Our goal is to remove as many stressors and barriers as we can so you can focus on your baby’s healing.
We provide a variety of resources and support services, including:
Our Child Life specialists support siblings of babies in the Fetal and Neonatal Institute. They also offer memory-making activities for your whole family. Thanks to our Child Life team, younger family members can be a part of their sibling’s care journey while receiving support to help them feel less frightened or overwhelmed.
Our financial counselors assist with a range of financial concerns. These specialists can help you understand your insurance coverage or set up a payment plan. We accept many insurance carriers, include Medi-Cal. Learn more about paying for care.
We want to remove as many potential barriers to care as possible. To that end, we offer on-site English-Spanish interpretation and virtual translation for all other languages. Many of our specialists also speak both English and Spanish. Find out more about Interpreting and Translation Services.
We believe mental health is just as important as physical health. Our diverse services—from music therapy in the Newborn and Infant Critical Care Unit to counseling in the Fetal-Maternal Center—support all aspects of your mental health.
Mental health services focus on both your and your baby’s emotional well-being. Our psychologists even provide infant-parent psychotherapy, a unique technique that reduces trauma effects and improves long-term outcomes. Learn more about the mental health support the Division of Psychology offers.
Throughout your baby’s entire stay, our specialists provide extensive education. Our nursing teams, care coordinators, advanced practice providers and doctors educate caregivers at the bedside.
Families also have access to programming where they can learn more about caring for their children in a group setting. You can also find more support through our Family Resource Center, where we offer health education resources and parent and youth coaches.
Social workers provide comprehensive resources to make your care experience more manageable. Social workers can walk you through financial aid options, coordinate transportation and even assist with food insecurity. Find out more about our Social Work Program.
If your baby has a medical condition or developmental challenge, meeting other parents in similar situations can provide comfort and support. Our social workers can connect you with the appropriate support group.
We provide diagnosis and treatment for the spectrum of fetal and neonatal issues. Learn more about our programs and services in neonatal and fetal care.
