Staff Spotlight: Erin Ross
“Many issues in research are nuanced,” she notes. “My job is about making sure that patients who participate in studies are protected and respected. I really enjoy that.”
Erin joined CHLA just three months ago and works remotely from her home in Ventura. In her role, she reviews clinical research proposals, interacts with investigators and prepares studies for IRB approval.
Previously, she spent several years as a clinical research coordinator for two hospital systems. But an experience as the IRB Administrator for Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara changed her perspective.
“I loved the people aspect of being a research coordinator, but the IRB side of research really set my brain on fire,” she shares. “I was drawn to this role at CHLA not only because it’s a great institution, but because the people are awesome. The moment I had my first interview with the team, I knew I wanted to work here.”
After hours, Erin lives “a mellow, beach town life” not far from where she grew up in Ventura County. “The closer I got to the beach, the less I wanted to live anywhere else!” she says, laughing. Her favorite activities include doing yoga, hanging out with friends, taking long beach walks and chilling out with her “orange and lazy” cat.
