The Saban Research Institute 2020 Annual Symposium: "Health Complexities in Pediatrics: Investigating Systems in Action and Interaction"

Children’s health is affected by an interplay of countless factors, internal and external, including genetics, environment, behavior and other factors unique to each individual. New discoveries are generating insights on the complexity of single organs, the interactions between organs and system functions and the ways in which exposures early in life have a profound effect on subsequent quality of life and health outcomes. The more we learn about the complexities at play, the better we can tailor prevention, treatment and structural interventions to facilitate children’s health, growth and long-term well-being. 

Convened on February 19, this year’s Saban Symposium, “Health Complexities in Pediatrics: Investigating Systems in Action and Interaction,” brought to CHLA an outstanding panel of speakers, including international leaders in research on health complexities and systems interactions. They were joined by science innovators from CHLA and USC. Speakers’ research spanned across basic, clinical, translational, and community settings.
