The Division of Infectious Diseases offers superior inpatient and outpatient care and consultation services to meet the challenges posed by pediatric infectious diseases. They are leaders in infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship both at CHLA and nationally.
Each year, our physicians consult on more 1,000 hospitalized patients with complex bacterial, fungal and viral infections in all organ systems.
In addition, our physicians provide telephone consultations to hundreds of providers within California and the rest of the United States and are actively involved in graduate medical education through the USC Keck School of Medicine.

Microbial Pathogens
Along with members of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, the Division of Infectious Diseases is participating in a collaborative initiative to translate innovative scientific research into novel diagnostics, therapeutic and preventive strategies for important microbial pathogens affecting immunocompromised patients.
The focus of this research is on fungal and mycobacterial organisms, especially Aspergillus species.
