Audiologists provide patient-centered care in the evidence-based prevention, identification, and diagnosis of hearing and other auditory disorders. Audiologists provide professional and personalized services to minimize the negative impact of these disorders, leading to improved outcomes and quality of life. Our audiologists provide patients and their families with innovative diagnostic and hearing evaluation options.
CHLA’s Newborn Hearing Screening Program is certified by the Southern California Hearing Care Coordination (SCHCC). This program complies with providing electrophysiologic screening of hearing for all infants admitted through the NICCU under the corrected age of 6 months.
Our Newborn Hearing Screeners conduct hearing screenings using the FDA approved automated ALGO-5, which is an Automated Auditory Brainstem Response (AABR) screening device. Our newborn hearing screeners work collaboratively with Audiologists to ensure that results, recommendations, education, and appropriate follow-up are provided for all identified infants.
