Bianca Salvetti, DNP, CNS, CPNP-PC
My own experience with navigating health care as a young person inspired me to become a pediatric nurse nearly 20 years ago. After seven years working as a bedside registered nurse in Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’ Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, I transitioned into the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine as a pediatric nurse practitioner in 2012.
As a PNP, I enjoy caring and advocating for adolescents and young adults (AYA) from marginalized and underserved communities. I was the principal investigator for a novel web-based study assessing chest binding practices among gender diverse AYA and its effects on mental health; selected as one of 2021’s Distinguished Dozen articles by the Journal of Adolescent Health. As a national lecturer, I educate healthcare providers, organizations, families, and youth on diverse topics impacting AYA healthcare delivery and access.
I graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Doctorate in Nursing Practice, where I developed and implemented a web-based decision aid on gender affirming treatment. I have a personal interest in the development of innovative clinical, educational, and research programs focused on improving the wellbeing of AYA.
