
Ryan Spurrier, MD, FACS
Dr. Spurrier is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. He is an attending Pediatric Surgeon at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) where he serves as Trauma Medical Director.
Dr. Spurrier is the Surgical Director of the Las Madrinas Simulation Center at CHLA where he is Co-Director of the Surgical Simulation Fellowship. He also serves as Director of the Pediatric Injury Prevention Scholars (PIPS) Research Program.
Dr. Spurrier graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology and a minor in Spanish. He earned his medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California and completed his general surgery internship and residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He also completed a two-year research fellowship at CHLA, focusing on stem cell-based tissue engineering. Dr. Spurrier completed his Pediatric Surgery Fellowship training at Oregon Health and Science University’s Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Spurrier is Board Certified in General Surgery and Pediatric Surgery. His areas of interest are trauma surgery, minimally invasive surgery, congenital anomalies of the neonate, thoracic surgery, and surgical simulation.
Dr. Spurrier practices at CHLA and Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach.
