Our Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine provides clinical rotations for students through its affiliation with several local colleges and universities, including:
Clinical Laboratory Scientist Training Program – California State University, Dominguez Hills
Each student enrolled in the Clinical Laboratory Scientist Program is awarded a stipend of $500 per month, if he or she maintains the minimum GPA requirement.
Histotechnology Training Program – Mount San Antonio College
The Histologic Technician Training Program prepares students for entry-level employment in clinical, veterinary and research laboratories. It also serves as a pathway for career advancement and specialization in particular areas of histotechnology.
Cytogeneticist Scientist Training Program
This program prepares individuals to take the California state-approved American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Clinical Laboratory Specialist in Cytogenetics board exam. Passing the exam allows candidates to apply to receive a Limited Clinical Laboratory Scientist license in Cytogenetics issued by the State of California.
Clinical Genetic Molecular Biology Scientist Training Program
This program allows the participant to work as a full-time employee while preparing the individual to take the California state-approved American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Clinical Laboratory Specialist in Molecular Biology board exam. Passing the exam allows candidates to apply to receive a Limited Clinical Laboratory Scientist license in Clinical Genetic Molecular Biology issued by the State of California.
Clinical Microbiology Scientist Training Program
This program prepares individuals to take the California state-approved American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Clinical Laboratory Specialist in Microbiology board exam. Passing the exam allows candidates to apply to receive a Limited Clinical Laboratory Scientist license in Microbiology issued by the State of California.
Foreign graduates must have their transcripts evaluated by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers(AACRAO).
