"Going Over the Edge" for Autism
On Saturday, July 27, Aaron Tanner, MS, CCC-SLP, will go “Over The Edge” to raise awareness about autism spectrum disorders and to support the work of the Boone Fetter Clinic at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, in providing high-quality care to children with autism. Along with community members from throughout Southern California, Tanner will take part in the inaugural Los Angeles “Over The Edge” event for Autism Speaks, in which he will rappel off the top of the Renaissance Los Angeles Airport Hotel, an 11-story building!
Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is a member of the Autism Speaks Autism Treatment Network, which is dedicated to improving medical care for children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Tanner is a Speech and Language Pathologist and a member of multidisciplinary diagnostic team for autism and neurodevelopmental disorders within the Boone Fetter Clinic. For Tanner, this event is an opportunity to emphasize the importance of communication. “Communication is key for kids with autism. By working with children early on, we can lay a strong foundation for language development and help children gain the social skills needed to communicate effectively and maintain healthy relationships,” Tanner says. “The work we are doing at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles as part of the Autism Speaks Autism Treatment Network is helping to move this field forward so that all children can benefit from these services.”
