Abbey Masonbrink, MD, MPH
As a board-certified pediatrician, hospitalist, preventive medicine, and public health physician and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics, I am passionate about providing care for children and adolescents in the hospital setting. Because I commonly care for hospitalized adolescents at risk for poor outcomes related to health behaviors involving substance use, addiction, and sexual and reproductive health, my research is focused on improving health equity related to these areas in the United States and internationally (e.g., Haiti).
I currently lead a research team in behavioral health mixed methods research, focused on adolescent health outcomes. I have received a National Institutes of Health grant (role PI) and two extramural grants to support my research, which has resulted in more than 20 published manuscripts, nine posters, and six oral presentations at national conferences, all focused on improving child health outcomes.
In my free time, I enjoy long-distance trail running, riding bikes, playing banjo, and taking in the arts and culture of L.A.
