David Tishler, MD
David Tishler, MD is an attending physician in the Division of Hematology, Oncology and Blood & Marrow Transplantation at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California. He graduated with honors from Immaculate Heart College in Los Angeles and received the Physician & Surgeon degree from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Tishler completed post-graduate pediatric training at the University of California, Irvine affiliated hospitals and a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology Oncology at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and he is board certified in Pediatric Hematology Oncology.
His interests are in Solid Tumors and Long Term Follow-Up of oncology patients. As chair of the Performance Improvement Committee in the Division of Hematology, Oncology and Blood & Marrow Transplantation, he oversees projects focused on patient safety and systems improvement.
He has been involved with Padres Contra El Cancer (Parents Against Cancer) since the organization’s earliest years and has served on the Board of Directors and have provided tireless support for Padres and the spectrum of its activities. As a bilingual physician, Tishler regularly leads “Ask the Doctor” parent groups where I encourage parents of cancer patients to advocate for their children across the medical continuum.
Tishler is a passionate advocate for medical cultural competency and recently lectured on this topic at the 20th Annual Latino Behavioral Health Conference. As a native of Los Angeles, he celebrates life in diversity and the urban fabric of his beloved hometown.
