Babak Moghimi, MD
Dr. Moghimi earned his MD degree from Tehran University and is board-certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology Oncology. He is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the University of Southern California and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, specializing in stem cell transplant and cell therapy.
Dr. Moghimi’s research is dedicated to developing novel immunotherapy approaches for cancer treatment. He focuses on improving the precision and persistence of CAR T therapies by utilizing advanced constructs and modular combinations. Dr. Moghimi is actively developing next-generation CAR T therapies that target antigen combinations, thereby significantly improving product accuracy and safety.
Shawn Barman
Shawn Barman got his bachelors degree in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics from UCLA. After graduation he worked on developing an HIV and SARs-CoV-2 Vaccines and Therapies in the Burton Lab at The Scripps Research institute. He is now a PhD candidate in the Moghimi lab where he is working on enhancing Logical Gated CAR-T cells.
Devon Bell, RVT, LATG
Devon Bell is a dedicated Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) specializing in the field of Laboratory Animal Science as a Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG).
With a passion for animal welfare and scientific advancement Devon brings decades of experience to the Blood and Cancer Disease Institute. Her proficiency in anesthesia, surgery, and providing high-quality, compassionate care make her an invaluable asset to the team. She is committed to contributing to the development of groundbreaking therapies and treatments, through excellence in veterinary care and technical expertise that benefit both humans and animals alike. Her goal, working immersed within the scientific community, is to foster a culture of collaboration with research teams to optimize animal models and procedures for improving pediatric health outcomes.
