Child Neurology Residency Application

Positions Available in the 2025 Match

There are three categorical residency positions offered with 2 years of preliminary training in general pediatrics at CHLA starting in June 2025 followed by 3 years of child neurology training starting in July 2027. We are also offering 1 reserve PGY3 position starting July 2025 in child neurology and 1 advanced PGY3 position starting July 2027 in child neurology.

How to Apply

The match process for the CHLA Child Neurology Residency Program is through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) main residency match and applications are accepted via the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) platform. Applications should be submitted for our categorical child neurology positions only; separate application to the CHLA general pediatrics residency is NOT required. Those selected for an interview will be automatically granted an interview with the CHLA Pediatric Residency Program.

Application requirements

All applications for the categorical residency training program must be submitted through ERAS and must contain the following:

• Personal statement
• Curriculum vitae
• Minimum of three letters of recommendation
• Dean's letter/MSPE
• USMLE or COMLEX score(s)
• Medical school transcripts
• For international medical graduates, we also require current ECFMG certificate
• For non-U.S. residents, we support F-1 or J-1 visas.

We require passing board scores. We review the entirety of the application including medical school performance, letters of recommendation and extra-curricular activities when selecting applicants for an interview. All documentation must be received before an applicant's file is reviewed. Applicant files are processed in the order in which they are received. Offers for interviews are on a rolling basis and waiting lists are utilized.

Interviews

In compliance with guidance from the Association of American Medical Colleges, the Consortium of Neurology Program Directors, the Association of Pediatric Program Directors, and the American Academy of Neurology, all interviews for the 2024 Match will be virtual. Interviews will take place over Microsoft Teams between October and January. We will offer second look opportunities.
