Annual Giving Programs
Red Wagon Society
The Red Wagon Society is named in honor of the little red wagons used to transport young patients around the hospital. Membership begins at cumulative giving of $150 per calendar year. Members of this special society provide annual support that helps find new ways to treat pediatric diseases, train the next generation of pediatricians and fund innovative research.
Ambassadors
Individuals who give or fundraise $1,000 or more every year in support of Children's Hospital Los Angeles are members of the Ambassadors family. This giving community provides annual support to CHLA and their generosity makes possible essential and diverse programs and services.
Benefits include:
- Subscription to Imagine magazine, which features stories on our generous supporters
- Printed recognition in the Honor Roll of Donors in Imagine magazine
- Exclusive engagement opportunities with CHLA and fellow Ambassadors
Donor Recognition Societies
H. Russell Smith Society
As Chairman of the Board of Directors from 1980 to 1988, H. Russell Smith was instrumental in establishing the hospital’s path towards success, which continues to impact the community today. Supporters who have made lifetime gifts totaling $25,000–$99,999 help uphold Smith’s legacy of generosity and sustain the hospital’s most valuable programs and services.

- Recognition on the H. Russell Smith Society section of the Lifetime Giving Donor Wall at the entrance to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles
- Invitations to H. Russell Smith Society events, hospital tours and other select programs

1901 Society
At the turn of the 20th century, the support of more than 100 families helped to establish Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Named for the year of CHLA’s founding and to honor these families, the 1901 Society comprises donors who have made lifetime gifts totaling $100,000–$999,999. This remarkable philanthropy drives advancements in pediatric care and research.

Mary Duque Society
The Mary Duque Society was named in honor of the venerable Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Board President and Chair of the Associates and Affiliates committee, who served from 1947 to 1990. Her tireless spirit enabled the hospital to become one of the top pediatric health systems in the nation. The Society celebrates extraordinary commitments of philanthropy to CHLA and recognizes those whose lifetime donations exceed $1 million. Visionary gifts from Mary Duque Society members help to create hope and build healthier futures for our patients and their families.

Emma Phillips Society
More than a century ago, Emma Phillips bestowed four acres of land on the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Vermont Avenue, where Children’s Hospital Los Angeles currently stands. The Emma Phillips Society honors the philanthropic commitment and legacy of donors who name CHLA in their estate plans or who choose to make other planned gifts to the hospital, such as gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts or qualified retirement plans.
