The Children's Fund
Providing the most advanced care for children requires specialized treatment. From using diapers that fit in the palm of your hand for babies in the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation Newborn and Infant Critical Care Unit to conducting research aimed at discovering new therapies for serious childhood illnesses such as leukemia and autism, the cost of this care is substantial. Cancer and Blood Disease Institute
At the forefront of care and research for over 50 years, the Cancer and Blood Disease Institute is one of the largest pediatric hematology-oncology programs in the country and is ranked among the top five programs in the nation. Jackie and Gene Autry Orthopedic Center
The Jackie and Gene Autry Orthopedic Center offers the kind of specialized care that can help a wheelchair bound child learn to walk after an injury, straighten the spine of a teenager with scoliosis, allow an injured athlete to get back on the field, and provide an active future for a child with bone cancer. The Center is recognized as one of the nation’s top programs not only for its care, but also for its training and research.

Fetal and Neonatal Institute
The Fetal and Neonatal Institute has among the nation’s most innovative models of care, offering lifesaving treatments that few other centers can provide. The Institute brings together over 25 pediatric medical, surgical and imaging specialties to provide comprehensive care for families and their babies, from pregnancy to delivery to postnatal life. The Institute’s research and training programs are leading the way in several promising areas, including fetal surgery and new diagnostic technologies.

Heart Institute
The Heart Institute is the largest and most comprehensive pediatric cardiovascular center in the western United States and is co-directed by one of the world’s foremost pediatric cardiothoracic surgeons, Vaughn A. Starnes, MD, and renowned cardiologist Paul F. Kantor, MBBCh, MSc, FRCPC. Children’s Hospital has been a leader in heart and lung care since the 1930s. Today, the Heart Institute conducts over 11,000 clinic visits and performs 1,000 cardiothoracic surgeries each year, including repairs of the most complex pediatric cardiac conditions.

Neurological Institute
The Neurological Institute is dedicated to helping all children achieve their full neurologic potential. The Institute’s comprehensive program for disorders and conditions of the brain and mind seamlessly encompasses the hospital’s Divisions of Neurology and Neurosurgery, offering an interdisciplinary destination that houses all of the tools needed to diagnose and treat neurological issues, and the talented experts needed to fully utilize these tools.

The Saban Research Institute
As a leading pediatric academic medical center, research is a vital component of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. All research at the hospital happens under the auspices of The Saban Research Institute of CHLA, which is one of the largest and most productive pediatric research facilities in the United States. The Institute’s overarching aim is to foster innovative research to improve the health and wellness of children and ensure the delivery of culturally competent care for diverse pediatric populations.

Family-Centered Care
Families often need more than medical care to deal with the stress of hospitalization. Children’s Hospital Los Angeles provides family-centered care to support the emotional well-being of children and their families.
Child Life
The Child Life Program recognizes that children process information differently than adults and have distinct needs for dealing with the stress that comes with illness, injury or hospitalization. Working closely with health care teams throughout the hospital, certified Child Life specialists enhance healing and reduce emotional strain for patients and their families through a variety of proven strategies, including preparation for medical procedures, therapeutic play and behavioral interventions.
