NATEEN
Becoming a parent is life-changing for anyone, especially if you’re a teenager or a young adult.
NATEEN at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is a program designed to help expectant and parenting teens and young adults reach their goals and thrive throughout their journey.
Our team of specially-trained youth advocates will work with you to identify your and your baby’s needs, and connect you with resources in an affirming, welcoming and non-judgmental space.
Services are offered to youth up to the age of 21 and are free and confidential.
Services Provided
Through NATEEN, expectant and parenting teens receive supportive services, including:
- Case management and counseling
- Health education, including birth control
- School enrollment and obtaining your diploma
- Breastfeeding
- Diapers and other essential items
- Job training and professional development
- Transportation
- Childcare referrals
- Housing
Collaborative Services
NATEEN collaborates with community partners to link youth with services such as:
- Prenatal care
- Health care for the teen and her child
- Housing assistance
- Public benefits
- School and academic counseling
- Vocational training
NATEEN has an on-site independent study program supported by the Los Angeles County Office of Education.
Teen Parent Academy
The Harold Edelstein Foundation supports NATEEN’s Teen Parent Academy, a program that prepares teen parents for employment and supports future planning and independence.
