As one of the top pediatric academic medical centers in the U.S., families from abroad often seek services at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. We deliver world-class therapies to hundreds of international patients each year. When you’re traveling great distances for care, it’s natural to have questions, and we’re here to help. Read on for answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs).
Getting Started
One of the first steps toward becoming a CHLA patient is completing an intake form. If you have questions about our clinical programs or the application process, call +1-323-361-8737 or email us.
Do I have to have my child’s medical records translated?
All medical records and application materials must be in English.
When you come to CHLA, you receive information in your preferred language. We have some bilingual staff on-site, and interpreters are always available.
Is financial assistance available?
CHLA accepts international insurance. Patients often pay out of pocket, although CHLA does accept private insurance. A deposit is required to set up your child’s initial appointments. You will also need to cover your family’s transportation, living expenses and all medical services we provide. Unfortunately, financial assistance is not available.
