Hi, Juice Box!: A Book for Kids About the Hospital
"Hi, Juice Box!: Juice Box Stays at the Hospital"
By: Drew Daywalt
Illustrated by: Benson Shum
Edited by: Kyle Horne
New York Times best-selling author, Drew Daywalt ("The Day the Crayons Quit"), teamed up with award-winning illustrator and Disney animator, Benson Shum ("Anzu the Great Kaiju"), to support Literally Healing and Children's Hospital Los Angeles with a book to help kids who will be spending a lot of time in and around healthcare. Being in the hospital, especially as a kid with complex care needs, can be difficult. That's where "Hi, Juice Box!" comes in. Drew, Benson, and a team of clinicians at CHLA set out to create a book introducing the people and places a kid might encounter at the hospital in a fun, accessible way.
If you are a current patient at CHLA and would like a physical copy of the book in English or Spanish, please reach out to Literally Healing or Child Life. You are also more than welcome to read online or download the book for free.
This book was created with the single purpose of helping as many kids and families as possible. From our CHLA family to yours, we hope you enjoy this book.
The writer and illustrator donated 100% of their time to this project and have made this title free of royalty where no one will make a profit, so more families can benefit. The first edition was printed for CHLA families thanks to the kind donations of the Whitney Young Children’s Foundation and Peninsula Committee Children’s Hospital.
This book cannot be sold to individuals for profit.
