Therapeutic Library
Literally Healing offers a unique and extensive resource in the form of the Therapeutic Library, a collection with hundreds of carefully curated titles for our clinicians and staff to use while engaging with our families.
The Therapeutic Library addresses sensitive issues in an accessible manner to help families navigate their health care journey. Therapeutic books aid in discussions of difficult diagnoses, prognoses, treatments, and procedures, as well as adverse childhood events, and the process of working through associated emotions. These books provide families with narrative mirroring, and allow for metaphoric processing and normalization of a patient's adversity, which is facilitated with a clinician's guidance. All books have been reviewed and approved by an interprofessional team of clinicians who meet regularly to review new titles.
If you are a CHLA family interested in receiving any of these titles, please speak to your Child Life specialist, social worker, therapist, or any other health care provider.
